The 2017 Diversity and Inclusion Report provides an overview and analysis of occupational mobility patterns in the NFL.

The study, led by Dr. C. Keith Harrison from the University of Central Florida, examines whether ethnic minorities face occupational access barriers after one or more stints as a head coach in the NFL. Dr. Harrison and his team also analyzed occupational access barriers and mobility patterns of NFL general managers, offensive coordinators, defensive coordinators and other primary NFL team position coaches.

“We are learning from our progress, and building a model for developing a sustainable diverse talent pool,” says NFL Executive Vice President of Operations Troy Vincent. “The Occupational Mobility Report documents our efforts — both our successes and challenges — and assists us in achieving a future where diversity makes the best better and the sum of the parts is greater than the whole.”
